They're usually good at working with developers
They're usually pretty good at working with developers to ensure false positives don't happen. Believe me, disabling legit programs is the *last* thing they want to do. If a customer has to decide between an antivirus program and a program they need to do their job, guess which one gets dumped? Yup. They *lose* money every time they get a false positive, so they do everything they can to prevent it.
