Really?
"Whether an OS is considdered to be affected by a certain
vulnerability is not determined by the state that the feature
ships in (enabled or disabled)."

Of course it is. Millions of vulnerabilities possibility exist in
every large OS, however as MS has learnt (belatedly) the OS
can actually be protected with something as simple as
enabling a firewall (default in SP2, forever in Mac OS X).

Not only does this affect the severity of the vulnerability,
the chances vulnerability can be exploited in the wild, but
also it can make the vulnerability irrelevant!

"Saying something is not turned on by default does _not_
put you in the clear."

Actually it does. All Mac OS X users that have not set-up a
kerberos domain do not have to worry about this issue.
Indeed it is possible to have set-up a domain without the
features mentioned and it too would be safe.

"The feature ships with OS X. The feature is flawed. It
needs to be patched. Deal with it. Don't try to be in denial
about it. OS X has already lost its "pristine, flawless" image
and there's nothing you can do to get it back."

Sorry it only "needs" to be patched if you are using the
feature - this is not a denial but fact.

And by the way Mac OS X has not had a flawless image, in
fact a large number of security patches have been made
available throughout its history. I'm sure many more are on
there way. However, we must concede its record is better
than some (we know who).

But above all your post demonstrates what I've said all
along about the skills of the MSCEs.
