Trying SO hard...
"but they tinkered with it and made their changes. So yes, the same "open source kerberos" but with changes made by MS. Since it is the same Kerberos, with changes for MS, we may one day see this flaw with them, but we wont see what the changes were to the whole thing since it's closed.

Yes they took it from open source, don't think they made it. I may have misunderstood what you're saying though."

=============

You people are trying SO hard to make MS look bad it's not even funny. Well, actually it is kinda funny happy

Which part of this don't you understand...? "Microsoft uses the mechanism to control security in its Active Directory authentication. However, the company uses a homegrown version of Kerberos that is not affected by the flaws, Hartman said."

So MS implimented the _functionality_ of kerberos using their own software, not open source software. They didn't "tinker" with the open source version, lol. Implimenting functionality does _not_ mean you have to use the same source code, which they didn't do.

Why don't you just accept that your open-source-is-secure fantasy failed you and that MS is not vulnerable here. I think I'll take Mr. Hartman's word over yours any day, after all, he is the engineering lead for the Kerberos Team at MIT. Who are you?

Love,
Peter
