i think someone has gotten to him
"I'm surprised Declan. Ususally you come down on the side of liberty. Now you oppose protections from technology which has the very real potential to enslave us."

Exactly. I am too surprised to see him voice their viewpoint. I suspect that he unfortunately has been bought off somehow. This is by far a technology with the most potential for abuse, and one that should be taken with the utmost seriousness. His "let's wait til something goes wrong first" approach is exactly what THEY want. They want to surreptitiously slip this by with tagging of everything popping up everywhere. Then once people begin complaining, government and industry will give us the BS excuse "well, it's too ubiquitous now to regulate, so there's no way we can stop it now". Yeah businesses see a big profit saving through this technology. However, ZERO of this will be passed on to the consumer. I'm only using ALL of history to account for that prediction. So don't try to win me over with crap like that. It's like saying to me that Columbian drug lords will be able to save more money. Woop-dee-do! And this benefits me how? Even with all the savings, they will still surely gouge us all the more. Why WON'T they? Look at how America is literally stealing Iraq's oil and yet the price per barrel just climbs ever higher..
