Declan, you are wrong on this one.

Bar codes do not remain "active". They are merely ink. RFID on the other hand has the potential to harm us. It is technology which could obliterate any privacy we have left. Now is the time to put very strong protections in place for the people. If we wait until the use of RFID is pervasive it will be all the more difficult to implement protections.

If RFID tags are not deactivated at checkout by default then we the consumers should be notified that we are purchasing a product with a tag that remains active after we leave the store.

Not implementing strong protections now is wrong on many levels.

I'm surprised Declan. Ususally you come down on the side of liberty. Now you oppose protections from technology which has the very real potential to enslave us.
