Stolen: Some computers
I'd just like to point out a couple of facts for those raging in righteous indignation at Google:

1. Google is a FORMER client of Colt Express. They have not used them since 2006. The burglary just happened, and apparently the data was stored in an unencrypted form. But was it unencrypted three years ago? Who knows? Certainly nobody posting here has any idea.

2. Colt Express was already on the skids before this incident, and is in fact in the process of going out of business. Google changed providers because they saw problems with this company. Of course, Loverock won't be happy until Google invents a time machine and goes back in time to prevent the breach from happening in the first place, and probably not even then.

3. Google was NOT the only company affected. Colt had MANY clients, Google was just a high-profile one.

4. There's nothing anywhere to suggest that Google employee data was the target of the burglary, or even that any of the data has actually been used or even accessed by anyone. Some junkie probably needed cash, and stole something to pawn.

5. 90% of the people reading this don't use encryption on their own personal data either.
