What you dont understand...: is most people (home users) want an easy to use OS. Windows even with all its holes and bugs offers this, ease of use and simplicity. For the home users like me (running a home network), security is learned over time with trial and error. Most do not concern themselves with security til they encounter a problem over and over or a virus, finally learning why and how to fix it. I'm not defending Windows or Microsoft but the fact remains Windows was made for both the tech savvy and the non tech savvy. You dont have to be an IT specialist or programer to use it.

Other OS's do not offer the ease that Windows does. Most cant just switch to alternative. It not as easy as you make it sound for the typical home user. All most home users can do is learn to lock down and secure thier Windows PC's after they encounter problems, viruses and whatever.
