Consumers won't pay
If it gets worse and worse and alternative show up from independents consumers will drop the RIAA affiliated mess for the easy to use stuff that holds more value.

For example: Do you pay $22 for CD or music that can only be played on specific machines or do you pay $9 for the music that free to use as you wish.

All I see is more restrictions and rising prices from the Major Labels where indy labels are putting out lower cost quaity music with no restrictions. I think if the Major Labels goal is to put themselves out of business in the next 10 years then they are off to a great start.
