Slight correction
While the main thrust of your argument is spot on, I would beg
to differ with one statement:

---The recent revenue drops in the RIAA cartel correspond
rather directly to increases in movie DVD revenues---

What recent revenue drop? As I understand it, the only drop that
has been seen is in "shipments", which has happened because 1)
the RIAA releases fewer albums, and 2) shipping has improved to
the point where stores no longer need to order a huge back
stock of items.

Revenues have continued to increase over the last few years.
One could argue that they haven't increased as much as previous
years, but one could also point out that we're in a recession.
