...most people here should approve of that, since it forces the users to pay attention to what is going on in their systems. If Microsoft doesn't inform users that patches are available, the anti-MS forces are up in arms. If Microsoft automatically downloads and installs patches with no user intervention, the anti-MS forces are up in arms. So it seems to me that the default (download but prompt to install) is the best situation.
Anything that educates users should be a good thing.
