While users are becoming more aware of the risks of sending private information in their corporate (or personal) email, established processes often prevent them from using any other means. And at any rate, email is just very convenient. But it seems that the companies involved could avoid snooping or inadvertent viewing of private data by encrypting these types of employee emails. Even mild encryption would stop most of this problem. Not many IT managers are going to go out of their way to crack someone's password.
