Consumer circus
What this latest scenario perfectly illustrates
is the total way in which the computing public
have had the wool pulled over their eyes.

Not one of the Microsoft tub thumpers here on
ZDnet or anywhere else would transfer their
alleigance to an inherently faulty product line
to another area of their life.

"Yeah, I drive a MS Roadster. I had to sign a
disclaimer that it was sold with no warranty and
no guarrantees before they'd let me start paying
for it - yeah, did I tell you 'm actually only
buying a license to use it? Anyway, soon as I
got it out of the showroom, loads of duff
components just flew out of thin air and
inserted themselves in the engine. I could start
it, but I couldn't take it out on the highway.
So anyway my mate Fred says, 'Ahh, you got to
pay at least 2 other garages to fit
Duff-Component deflectors. That way they can't
get in. Well, not the ones they know about
anyway. So I shell out for these anti-duff
component deflectors and bugger me if the next
day the owners at MS Roadster HQ, had only been
into my engine and changed it. Stopped my new
Bloggs stereo working, and it had much better
sound than the one that's still welded into the
dash. Mind you, it used to come on when it
wanted to anyway, I tell ya, it's like the
blasted things haunted or something"

etc etc.

Over the road at Linux Moto, Sam is watching his
new car being assembled. Every cog, every
washer, is there to be inspected if he wants.
it's a custome job - racer or tourer, he is the
architect from nuts and bolts to finished item.

No real need for an anti-duff component
deflector, but there are plenty about ... all
free. They come as standard with the kit. As do
all the other accessories - no welding into the
dash here, you can have a bloggs, a vox and a
pickleson stereo all installed, all will work
perfectly with each other. Theres none of that
haunting stuff either - nobody enters the car
and changes the engine unless you set up a
contract. - this baby could be customised to be
safet critical too ... and it'd still be free.
The Linux Moto people will sell you servicing
and maintenance though, if you want it.

Lets hear it for MS Roadster! Ooops, looks like
it's in for its daily patch just at the
moment ...
