Writing virus class
When I took classes for Networking in school. We had a security class where we tried to break into fellow students computers while preventing them from breaking into our computers. We worked as two person teams. We wrote or found and downloaded cracking software, virus, and malware sofware to prove that we had indeed gained access to our classmates systems. This is not a new concept. I took this class over 5 years ago. The instructor was an MIT graduate who told us of classes that they had where they would write malware and then write anti malware to stop the original and so on through out their classes. This was used so that they could learn how to close all of the doors that could be used to gain unauthorized access to networks and computers on the networks.
