low budget but not a sleep
To say in one sentence.
"You can't out shout a rock concert."

Never thought I would be defending AMD marketing, but the AMD marketing that has existed has been well done.
just look at the tail of the Ferrari teams in F1, or Lance Armstrong's tail in the Tour. How's that for targeted advertising.

We have to be realistic here. there is no way AMD marketing will out shout Intel.

Those that are open minded to other tech were aware of NX (EVP) features since x86-64/AMD64 intro.

As noted already this is nothing new. just new to x86/PC's. Also if you see that the roots of the Athlon/Opteron are firmly planted in the DEC/Alpha, you can see that AMD has built a Hummer in response to Intels Corvette(P4).
And the Job at hand is pulling stumps of old x86 code and not cruising the superhwy.

I've built dozens of systems with this feature disabled waiting for M$ to get of there collective A$$e$. now it appears as they finally have.

Will this stop the spread of viruses? NO.
It will just require some user input to spread them.
