Seemingly, AMD let this one slip by. Maybe, though, they decided not to use this as a way to drum up business. In the real world, how many companies are going to trash multiple systems that don't utilize DEP? Few if any. If companies are in the market for new machines they will, if lucky, do their homework. If not, how soon do you expect there to be a workaround? So, AMD didn't take advantage of this, but (and not a perfect analogy) IBM didn't push OS2 very hard even though at the time it was a superior OS to what Microsoft had. But IBM is still around. Intel still has the greater market share and AMD makes inroads all the time, and it will be a while before there is anything resembling parity. AMD would have to make several disastrous mistakes to go down the tubes. I don't think that this is one of them.
Yes, I am an AMD "fan." However, I am not a fanboy. I just like to use products that work well and don't cost more than they need to... - Posted by: liberalenextrema@... Posted on: 08/16/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
