Maybe AMD's PR Department Needs to Think Differently
Actually I think AMD has made a remarkable improvement in the way it executes its business. It went from being the dog of PC server processor suppliers, to being the leader ? as far as technology superiority is concerned. It also managed to land deals with major OEMs except Dell. (Incidentally my next PC will not be a Dell, precisely because it does not offer AMD processors. Currently all of my PCs are Dells.) Overall AMD has done extremely well under its new CEO. Did AMD screw up in its promotion of the security feature its 64 bit chips support? I certainly believe so! In fact Mr. Berlind appears to have done a much better job than the company promoting this new feature in the company's chips. Maybe AMD needs to make sure that its PR department contains people with multiple perspectives ? many of whom are level headed, but also think out of the box. This would probably lessen the chance of something like this re-occurring.
