Linux is not for everyone -- so why are you worried about this paper?
This paper is for people who are concerned about improving the security of their systems.

If you're not really concerned with security or you feel comfortable with what you have, then why worry about it?

The paper gave the technical details of how 0wning a system is assessed by Immunity Inc. for those people who are interested. It did so by breaking it down into the three major components necessary to 0wning a system -- vulnerability detection, exploit development, and attack execution. The technical details Aitel documents are facts which are well-known to people in computer security (and hackers). That's called data or evidence. You may not like it, but that's not relevant nor does it change its value as data.

What is relevant (again for those who care about computer security) is how 0wning a system is done and therefore (for the insightful reader) how to increase meaningful protection of whatever system it is you have to protect.

If you're happy with Windows, stick with Windows. But you're not doing anyone a service by disregarding facts, however unpalatable they are to you.

Why is the paper targeting Windows instead of Apple? Microsoft targets Linux and has been doing so for over a decade with false information about Linux (as well as false information about itself).

Why am I concerned about computer security? Microsoft's irresponsibility in this area makes on-line computing bad for everyone. It is information like this that will help those Windows admins who care provide a more secure environment for their users.

This paper is not about buying an OS.
