I am not sure this is helpful ...
We are currently at a point where the free software community and the proprietary software industry need to work together to further our mutual interests. When Jon broke the DVD encryption, he did if for the purpose of veiwing content which he had purchased. That made some degree of sense, at least to some of us, and apparently to the court as well. However, this move on his part is a bit more daring, and a bit harder to justify. It is more weighted toward piracy than legitimate access. And his attitude in the whole matter is downright arrogant. I think this is a really unfortunate move on his part. The whole purpose of free software should be to provide a software commons and a level playing field for the proprietary community, NOT to provide a 'warez' marketplace. Unlike the Hollywood Studios, Apple is struggling to survive. They do not deserve to be treated this way. Shame on Jon!
