not quite wrong...
The fact that the RIAA represents pretty much the whole industry... means they can... there are about as many CDs available in stores that aren't from RIAA as there were bibles available in Soviet Russia happy But I take the point.

This whole thread seems to say one thing.

Governments are the only ones who can pass laws.
Some (most?) big businesses influence politicians/governments
Some big businesses are not working in the interests of the citizens as a whole (duh!)
Thus some laws are not in the interests of the citizens

Hmmm... but who are the stock holders of governments.... the citizens... the voters who can't/won't get off their butts and elect people who will represent them.

So despite the "its inevitable" & "we can't fight it" "they have too much money" brigade steping in to blame someone else for any problems (pick business or government depending on your political affiliation) are just in fact showing that the aren't as bothered about it as they say they are (money where your mouth is?)

Government is only Big Brother IF the electorate lets it be. Business can only (over) influence Government if the elected representatives pander to them. The whole point of democracy is that you can kick out a government that goes too far in any given direction. If you don't like the business influence .. register and vote accordingly... if you're happy with it... do the same. Don't vote... don't moan. happy

You can't fool all the people all the time... but some folks are sure trying.... and the attitude this thread shows that it works.

Ahh well...
