The mere mention of Microsoft and you lot of wetting your pants, jumping up and down pissing like babies.

This isn't the first time this has come up. The objection isn't to MS doing the work, it's to the strings attached.

If Red Hat had been proposing this, you would all be in favour and decrying MS for not thinking of it first.

The difference is that Red Hat licenses their patents on liberal terms. Microsoft uses them to eliminate competition, and in this case the "elimination" is from exchanging e-mail.

Dunno 'bout you, but I personally don't like the idea of needing Bill and Steve's permission to exchange mail.
