Ahhh hell if he is smart he can do a Kevin Mitnik
First thing he needs to do is get a bunch of his buds together to form a "Free the Bagel Bomber" web site. they will need to collect donations and do talks at tech conferences. Next he will need a press agent to insure that ZDNET posts his story. He will also need to find some psychiatrist to explain away his actions on Oprah and Jerry Speringer. The press agent will need to float stories to Dan Blather, Tom Blowchow and Peecee Jennings to garner support from bleeding heart liberals.

Of course his Mom and Dad will have to lie their asses off and tell how he was such a good kid and that it was just his natural curiosity that got him in trouble and the really meant no harm. At this point he will be poised to accept a position as a CEO for some fledgling security comapny that Microsoft can purchase later and then we all can live happily ever after.

Gotta go now the lady in the white coat is coming to give me my medications.
