Glad you mentioned........
that the part on zlib was addressed fixed far ago, in version 1.1.4.
Warned for by the author of lha in early 2k.

One other curse of "mainstream" type programs is the "development" cycle
resulting in "upgrades" on mostly unnecessary basis, as the last 1.2.x, that "have faster code"

Heck it was 5 to 20 % slower on my SSE/L2 with mmx overlay / pentium scheduled compiles.
that normally opens for example a png image 2 to 300% faster then
the binaries provided by the src authors.

Though still running perfectly on a 486, thanks to Bcc32 RT / Tasm52, engineering,,,

to the maximum performing 5 to 5.5 calculations per cpu tick on fast fourier transforms
while executed on appropriate cpu(s)

Maybe the new src suits VC++ well as it's using MASM assembler mnemonics
that contains several code flow generation flaws...........

Seems that these png flaws mostly originates in lazyness, as they were fixed far ago.
