RE: Fraud abroad remains 'uphill battle' for eBay
My concern frankly is the unfortunate purchaser who sends money to the black hole and never has a chance to get either a refund or any goods at all. My concern is also my own bank account, just as it seems yours is. Sounds as if you've been burned once or twice by nonpaying 'winners.' I'm rather certain that the profits in eBay and PayPal will continue to keep them financial better off than simply viable. One reason a number of folks shop on eBay is to get something they want or need at a reduced price. Not all users are collectors and dealers; for the family next door (and myself), I would like to see a quick end to phishers' illegal-income business. You do realize, too, that a huge percentage of people in Europe view the US as fair game, as we "are all filthy rich." I could tell you real-life horror stories to explain that statement. AND compare to many, we as a nation, do have way more than we need or is good for us. Most everyone I know here is now really struggling, too, but we had it darned good for a long time, didn't we? Little wonder someone came up with another way to make money and phishing in particular.
