Well yes in certain situations like that its great to have cash for emergancies, but I was speaking generally. I find it a nusiance using cash because people take FOREVER to count out the change, its easier for me to slide a card and more often than not if the purchase is under $25 you dont have to sign for it.

I know what you mean by having technology fail, credit/debit cards are "new" around where I now live (dont ask..ive been using them forever) and when it fails, it is inconvienient and slightly embarrassing, especially if the merchant does not know how to manage their merchant account (batching out, offline approvals,etc). I just choose not to frequent these merchants that consistantly have issues and I make them aware of it.

As for no one can refuse to accept cash? Yep they can and it happens every day. Try to go buy an iPhone on JUST cash, it wont happen, further try paying certain bills..Cash has gone way of the dinosaur (in most situations) and given way to plastic.
