If you can hack a tag, you can also steal all the information contained within. Identity theft made easy, especially if the planned use of adding your credit card and bank info to the chip comes to pass.

We had this discussion when the topic of implanting hospital patients came up. If the tags are indeed the newest target of choice, then I am even more certain that they should only be used for "read-only" porposes such as marking goods in warehouses. They should NEVER be used for personal, sensitive information.
