Ok BallmerGates whatcha gonna do for the legacy ware
"Microsoft will also do a lot to bolster unpatched systems from new threats when it releases Windows XP Service Pack 2 in August."

Yeah yeah I read where your security top guy said just get XP. Let's say for the sake of argument that SP2 locks down Windows XP. How about W2K, ME, Win 98 and 98 2nd best uhhh 2nd edition that bunches of folks that "blindly trusted your product are left hanging out there and cannot or will not upgrade? Big deal MS offered a free CD with security upgrades and yes the shipping was included in the free but what was the distribution numbers? Not many I bet. BTW are the current security CD's updated with the slew of releases since the initial release?

Again let's just say that XP is magically locked down in August and no longer vulnerable, look at all the targets out there just waiting to be turned into zombie bots if they are not already. In the past week or so there have been reports of massive ddos attacks. The servers were not hurt as I understand but the servers were slowed from the shear mass of info being submitted. Hmmmm sounds like a recipe for disaster and these just may have been practice for bigger things and there are all those old machines waiting to become exploited.

It can be like fireants attacking an elephant. Overwhelming numbers can kill the strongest beast. Microsoft needs to take full responsibility for THEIR legacy ware, whatever the costs.
