Easy to say when you are not that ISP....

Absolutely.
My computer 'training wheels' neighbors had to use the restore disk twice after email virus infection before they opted for the $5/month ISP email scanning service.
They've been safe for 18 months now.
The ISP's can expand on these services - monitoring traffic for probes etc.
Just like the telephone company has host of add on services.

This is an oportunity for the ISPs.
