Behind the times
I'm afraid you've fallen way behind the times.

Web 1.0 gave people the ability to multitask socially. No longer were people restricted to having a phone call with only one person at a time. Now people could simultaneously chat with dozens of their friends. Web 2.0 has taken that to the next level by enriching that interaction with media tagged with semantic data letting people share their experiences and interact in a way that wasn't possible before.

I'm still a fairly young guy, but it baffles me the way teenagers these days can maintain so many simultaneous interactions at once. I've seen one sit down at a computer, log into facebook, 5 minutes later, "John, Paul, George, Ringo, Yoko, and I are going to the mall, then out for dinner, then a the 10:00 movie, I'll be back late," all without picking up a phone.

To relegate social networking to the socially inept is ignorant at best. Though it's true I wouldn't expect everyone's profile to be 100% accurate, your assumption of the untruthfulness wreaks of hyperbole. Privacy concerns are a valid issue hence the topic of the article.

You may be too old to completely grasp the concept of Facebook. I know teenagers these days still trump me. But you still have to keep up with the times or get left behind. Then we'll see who's socially challenged.
