Not really.
These blogs are nothing more than preaching to the choir and not putting a dent in the Vista uptake. I mean i think with the added weight of Apple's CEO and others publically dissing Vista, there has been more of the FUD leak into the mainstream than normal, but this service pack is a very good one all the way around and this is miniscule on the scale. Fixes available for all of these apps already and even though the zealots would have this be another day in the sun for them, it's not going to happen. Many companies planned a 2008 rollout of Vista from the start, it was the most common response from business and on the news of SP1, Vista uptake by business jumped quite nicely. This year will see Vista marketshare go at least 3 fold over the current 100 million plus. Server 2008 is also in the plans for many corporations from the start. It's a solid server package all the way around with virtualization coming to the forefront, a quick 20 minute total install and the new kernel as well.

If people liked XP, which they obviously do, they will love Vista once they start to use it regularly and the low end specs reach vista ready with good performance. That is almost here now. You can get a santa rosa machine with a great GPU with half a GB of discrete RAM, and core 2 duo for under 1K if you go tower or desktop model. (perhaps it will take a little more time than it did XP, but not looking like it so far) This same thing played out with XP and even though the ABM FUD is louder and more persistent than ever, it will take hold on it's merits. In one year we are now seeing Vista gaming PCs that rate consistently high at affordable prices. The only negative comments on a good crop of machines under 2K is slightly slower than XP, but the video quality and smoothness more than make up for it.
These same machines will be near 1K within a year as machines go above the 2 core level and continue to evolve with new technologies on components all around. 10K rpm drives are here now and will be ubiquitous in no time as are the GPUs evolving at a high rate, pushing current Vista screamer machines in the 1500 to 2500 range down very rapidly.

Singing the blues about Vista not running on a 64 MB machine wil be a thing of the past before you know it.

Just look at how fast the ABM posts against XP have suddenly stopped cold and now the zealots are embracing XP! Incredible. Their motives are very thinnly veiled and they are losing room to work from by the day, hence they jumping on a minor annoyance like this, as if SP1 were being recalled.

Fun stuff. Built for comedy central i think. happy
