That last line misses the point. I'm sure they fully realize it's a crime. Kids enjoy doing things that are illegal, even when it's not in their best interest.

I'm sure the pedophiles out there don't mind making it legal for kids to get drugs, alchohol and tobacco too? How about driver's licenses? The right to vote? If you're responsible enough to have sex, you should be responsible enough to do anything else an adult can do.

A responsible adult giving a kid sex should be a crime for the same reason it's a crime to give them a beer or a semi-automatic. Good kids won't ask for these things, but that doesn't mean we say it's okay to screw the bad kids.

Most teens regret their first sexual encounter, and the younger the age, the more likely they are to regret it. Teens shouldn't be having sex, period. It's not because they're "helpless victims", it's because they're not ready. Sex can do a lot of emotional damage. Any adult who puts his own desires before that fact is not just immoral, but selfish.
