RE: Study rejects Internet sex predator stereotype
I suspect an honest survey would find that kids who want to experiment do not benefit from being told to seek their own age group. First experiences aren't likely to be permanent no matter what age the partner.

In fact kids probably seek adults for sex experiments for 3 safety-oriented (trust) reasons.

(1) privacy -- adults don't usually gossip with their peer group. Everyone knows how peers can torment.

(2) Superior knowledge -- not a guarantee but early teens often fake knowledge and spread bad myths...even other teens

(3) Respect & avoiding VD -- a perception that some potential teen partners are "sex vandals" getting their kicks from spreading VD and ill treatment. Others have 'short fuses" and no patience with the process. Ask your kid about rumors of disasterous kid-kid sex and you'll find why they look elsewhere. Feedback to #1

(4) Full service -- better places, better condoms, etc
Adults generally have better access and finances plus

So actually it isn't that the adults create false trust and love -- but that kids don't trust their own peers.
