Really now, So the retailers of these counterfeit watches aren't going to have bogus "readers" for these chips? "Look, the watch checks out on the reader, that means it's REAL" These devices won't have any effect except to perhaps discourage internet sales. The whole intent is probably to make everyone go running to their authorized watch dealer to pay full price for a watch which is marked up 500%.
