1 entity of the physical existance of a virus = virus
Ex: "I have a virus on my PC."

More than 1 of the above as seperate entities = viruses
Ex: "I have 3 viruses on my PC."

The embodiment of the entity classified as 'virus' = virii
{Think of this as 'mankind' as opposed to a man.}
Ex: The lecture centered around virii and their propagation.

You can find the use of 'virii' in many standard Microbiology texts. This is after all, where the IT world stole the word from.
{After working in a Microbiology Lab, post Medical Technoloyg degree, the usage of viruses and virii became second nature for me.}
