Perhaps I should have said, famous to the average person as in the early 40's IBM and MIT were working on and with the Mark 1, later the card punch machines were still only known to a few although the cards were getting better known as that was how some bills came so no I am not 80. I am however, 59 and I have been around for a while and have been in the communications field for quit a while. Although I started learning about electronics when I was 16 I didn't really work in the field until I was 18 and then I worked on teletypes. Since then I have worked on teletypes, data terminals, thin clients and computers and in fact still do. My first computer was a TRS-80 Model 1 with little ram and the data recording device was a cassette recorder/player.

Having said that what I was trying to tell the person I replied to, I have seen many changes in the field and if I am still around when I am 80 I expect to have seen many more. I have seen computers go from what the average person only knew about from sci-fi movies or books and what little was allowed to be told on the news reels to something that most people use, if no where else at least at work. But thanks for reminding me how old (or young) I am
