To Jellyclock
This is to Jellyclock (if that's your real name) because ZDNet forum won't alow me to post another level deeper...

"Yes lets. Oh! Just a minute! We already have. Linux is out there in the world of virus writers and those writers have so far FAILED to produce anything."

No it's not "out there". Not anyting like Windows is. I won't compare 2% marketshare to 95% marketshare and say it's "stood the test of time". Right now the vast majority of Linux users are technically minded and know more of how to secure an OS than the vast majority of Windows users. It simply because Windows tend to be used by the masses, while Linux tend to be used by technically minded early adpters. Yes I know you have anecdotal evidence that some poor smuck got sucked into using Linux and you need to go there every weekend to help him make some piece of hardware work.

And virus writers are simply not targeting Linux and OSX because of their pathetic marketshare. They go where the money is.

Read my other post in this same forum about the percieved "secureity" of Linux and OSX.

Love,
Peter
