- No, you are wrong
- So you berate my opinion soley because YOU have completely bought into the notion that a vendor can supply a defective product with impunity, and any problems resulting are the fault of the user. As for this - "If windows was to go away, the writers of these programs wouldn't stop, they would just shift to whatever took windows place", no, you are wrong. Linux and Unix can be used for safety critical applications not because less people use them, but because they are more secure, by design, from the ground up. Windows CANNOT be used for safety critical, because it is less secure, by design. You try to tell me if all the High St banks went away, robbers would turn their attention to Fort Know. Bull! If all the WIndows went away, Linux, Unix and Applce MacOS would STILLfoil the script kiddies and VB hackers who so easily get into Windows. Windows is flawed from a security point of view, it is built on a design which is easily and regularly exploited by malware writers. Popularity has nothing to do with it. Hackers would love to be able to do as much damage on Linux and unix systems as they do to Windows - they can't. End of story. The analogy of High St banks and Fort Knox holds. Linux and Unix would reamin secure if Windows went away, Windows is not hacked because its more popular, its hacked because its easy to find new exploits. Every month, somebody writes new exploits! Every month, those same twisted minds fail to write exploits for Linux and Unix. get it into your head. Microsoft sell a defective product and you sign the EULA to absolve them of any responsibility. You are a PR budgeteers dream, you bought the lie and you will attack anyone who hasn't bouight it along with you. Can you say "Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"?
