virus scans?
This sounds like what I deal with friends and family's computers with virus scan (OK may not exactly).

You put too many Virus Scanning programs and Vista Defender-like programs on your computer and sure, you'll be safe, but that's because you won't be able to run anything. So you spend more and more money getting your computer to work as it should.

Turn off Vista Defender and make Virus Scans *only* scan emails and executables/Office documents only. There's no need to scan bitmaps and pictures, but most people have those set to do just that.

You mention fingerprint data, but when you get driver's licenses in the US, that's the ONE form of identity check that they *don't* use (except for California which is the only one I know of). NJ makes you choose 5 documents to get a license (there is actually a combination that you can use so you don't need an existing picture -- I heard a woman on the radio say what she used and I said to myself that none of them had photos). Once they have one of those "fool-proof" IDs, good luck getting your life back.... You're better off having a government job or committing a felony (or a combination of both) to lock that in.
