Rubbish!
It shows how little you know about the UK law. Privacy in the UK and EU is taken a lot more seriously than in the US. The US doesn't even consider your data privacy when it comes to companies sharing data since the there are next to no laws in the US for that. (The UK dpa was one of the first in the world. Whereas all countries in the EU each now have a dpa.)
