Wrong, wrong and faulty
When are you Linux fundies going to realise there is a time and a place for all manner of oeprating systems. Run Unix on mission critical data, so be it, but don't tell me then that Linux should by extension be used on the desktop in place of Windows in Joe Soap's home. The average user merely wants to browse the Net, e-mail, play games, write Word documents, etc., and doesn't know jack **** about computer security - something I have witnessed first hand. Windows can easily be made secure for home usage with the activation of XP's firewall (or 3rd party installation) and a decent anti-virus program like F-Secure (none of that Norton rubbish).

XP runs well on my computer, with F-Secure providing the anti-virus protection and Adware taking care of any spyware cookies. Can I replace it with Linux? No. The various Linux distributions all have various faults and problems in detecting the hardware in my computer, and are not compliant with my scanner, adsl modem and external cd-rewriter. Why should I have to go and spend money to replace all these things when I have a working, secure computer right here which does everything I require.

Oh, and yes I have worked in the computer industry as a support analyst so don't even think of going down that route.

Unix, Linux and Windows have their places. I wish some people would merely accept that instead of being fanatics.
