It's a little early to throw that line out the window. Until something comes along that has at least 20-30% market share for the desktop the userbase theory will remain a theory. It can't be proven or disproven at this point. I suspect it is only a matter of time before some browser or OS reaches that mark. Once that happens we can watch and see if those other systems become the target of the attacks Windows is subjected too now. If not, then the userbase theory is garbage. If they do come under attack...
