Microsoft is all about user Security the User is not.
It isn't so much Flak. I feel that the biggest problem for the user is a lack of education. I mean really, what do most people do when they get a box that says it won't view this page correctly due to its activeX controls. At the bottom of the window they click on the Icon open the Active X control page and waa laa. I can shut off all of this security stuff and it won't bother me again. Sound about right. The reason these controls are set the way they are is because the idea was to give the operator a choice of allowing screened functions but if you don't even know what it is how can you effective control the more advanced functions? You can't. So it is easier to blame the manufacturer of the product than it is to learn how to do it right. I mean come on have you ever really taken a look at a Microsoft website? The information available is HUGE. Read it and pretty soo you'll be somewhat proficient as well as educated on the right choices to make on your PC. www.microsoft.com/security check it out. Just one of the many pages available to the public for free.
