You've hit the nail right on the head. As a System and Network Administrator, with a Software Engineering major in IT, I think that the writer of this virus is wasting their talents. They obviously have excellent software creation skills. Maybe they have an axe to grind with Microsoft, but will it do any good to demonstrate that they are smarter than the team that Bill Gates has assembled? Of course not!

Instead of being destructive, get out there and be constructive instead, just as medezark suggests. If you don't like Microsoft's efforts to produce software, get in and produce your own. If that means designing it from the ground up, get in and do it, then code it, debug and troubleshoot it, then when it is ready release it to the public. They will soon tell you if it is okay or not. Of course, this means doing a lot of work, but you have been doing that anyway.

I heartily concur that while everyone else seems intent on pointing their fingers at the victims and bystanders, I will join medezark in condemning the virus and worm writers, spammers, phishers, and anyone else who makes it hard for ordinary people to enjoy the benefits that computers bring into their lives.
