Communications Act of 1996
The Communications Act of 1996 was billed as "first major overhaul of telecommunications law in almost 62 years" and promised to force local telcos to share their wired network in return for letting them into the long distance game.

After the lobbyists and the telco attorneys got through with the law they got what they wanted and effectively stopped any use of their wired network. No way is that not going to happen again! No wonder the rest of the world is streaking ahead of us in ALL new telecommunication technologies including wireless and broadband.

Until we are ranked 100'th in the world in telecommunications and we have a total revolt, it will absolutely be business as usual. FCC -- Don't waste your time.
