- When more PATCHED bugs can mean tighter security
-
Microsoft is ever the master of FUD. They report they have patched fewer vulnerabilities than Mozilla has, and call that better security. This causes confusion about patched bugs vs unpatched bugs.
Surely, the number of unpatched bugs, and the severity of those unpatched bugs, is what matters, right? Not according to Microsoft.
Check it out at secunia, IE vs Firefox:
http://secunia.com/product/12366/ - IE7, 20 vulnerabilities, 7 unpatched, most severe: critical.
http://secunia.com/product/12434/ - FF2, 19 vulnerabilities, 5 unpatched, most severe: less critical.
http://secunia.com/product/10615/ - Opera, 10 vulnerabilities, 0 unpatched.
while we're here...
http://secunia.com/product/11/ - IE6 still has 21 unpatched vulnerabilities.
http://secunia.com/product/4227/ - Firefox 1 still has 4 unpatched vulnerabilities.
So, who is least secure, and the best at making excuses? - Posted by: james.faction Posted on: 12/10/07 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
