was they now know you have an active address. Spammers normally send out hundreds of thousands of emails, never knowing for sure if all the addresses are legitimate. When they snag your address, that becomes a known "good" email, and it will be targeted more heavily.

Don't be so quick to dismiss someone's posting. I read ZDNet much less than at one time because it has become a flamer's paradise. So.... CHILL!
