But how do they get paid?
Rather easy to be anonymous on the Internet, until money changes hands. Somehow or other the money either has to go from one bank to another, unless cash is handed over in person.

Cops have been "following the money" for eons; same principles apply here. My suspicion is simply that the FBI and/or Secret Service hasn't made it a priority yet.
