Why?
First of all to answer another of your posts, I am not 17. I am 24, I have a masters in computer science and am pursuing a doctorate. Like you, I am the IT manager at a law firm with approximately 200 employees.

When you baby sit morons, you have to take extreme measures to protect the Firm, and its information resources, I would ask, why a person in your position even allows executable attachments to make it through your Firm's email system? The morons can't click on it, and hurt themselves if you don't let them even have access to the dangerous files, correct? All email entering into our firm passes through a spam filter, as well as 2 different AV filters. In addition, all executable attachments are immediately removed from inbound messages, and all compressed (.zip, .rar, .tar, .ace, etc) are all quarantined pending IT inspection, and then are delivered. We also have 2 firewalls in place to keep out the viri and worms, and a proxy server that keeps out the web-based exploits. We haven't had a single viri, trojan, or worm infection in the 3 years that I have been in charge of network security at the Firm. We have plenty of morons, virtually all of them, but they have a very good babysitter.

I also fail to see how anyone can blame MS, or any other company for these security problems. If you know in advance that the product requires alot of extra work to secure, and you don't take the time to properly secure it, you are the one to blame when it fails. If you don't want to put in the extra work, move to a different platform that is easier to secure.

You do make a good point, that it is only because of these morons that you and I have jobs, so I am thankful that these morons exist, but that doesn't change the fact that they are still morons.
