It's a Trojan Not Virus
For a Mac user to be affected by this piece of malware they need to do the
following.

1) Be lured to a porn site. (Hey we're computer geeks too so this probably isn't too
hard.

2) Click on a link and Download a bogus video codec.

3) Open the codec, the OS will tell you it's an application and you should only
download from trusted sources.

4) Enter an administrative user name and password.

Am I worried about THIS Trojan? Not really, but it DID raise my eyebrow. The
better question is how hard is it to get rid of this trojan, just how deeply does it
put itself in the system?

If removing the Trojan is as simple as deleting a couple of files and resetting a
couple of settings than it probably isn't a big deal. However if the trojan is able to
embed itself the way Window trojans and viruses imbed themselves in Windows
Systems then I will become deeply worried.

Further, if Mac users turn out to be as stupid as Windows users and randomly
install pieces of software and thus create a market for these trojans than I will be
Deeply worried.

By the Way Non Zealot do you see any IRONY in your choice of name?

Regards

Joe Dokes
