Another Failed Name Change
There's a long line of established businesses that have changed their names, usually to the fact that their "not just a company anymore" (ie. they've lost their focus). I know of no case where this has been beneficial and can think of several companies that have ended up changing their names back (anyone remember Allegias?) as McAfee is now doing.

It's one thing to change a name that either no one has heard of (ie. you're not an established company) or that has been tainted by scandal (the fresh start scenario), but to change something that people recognize just to freshen your image has always struck me as foolish in the extreme.

Besides, the "new names" tend to be of the sort that only advertising executives could appreciate.
