This is (long term) great news
The more this information can become mainstream, the more likely it is that programmers, vendors, etc. will take it seriously and deal with it. Marcus Ranum I'm sure will hate it, and he's right in the fact that short-term it will cause many more problems, but the sooner the wounds happen, the sooner they'll heal.
